Things Our Dog Ate #2

I realize it’s Valentines Day and I certainly have plans for a post about love and relationships but first I thought I’d offer up the second in an ongoing series of photos depicting… well… things our dog ate.

If you enjoyed that, do us a favor and vote for us on Top Baby Blogs because seriously, there’s more where this came from and you’d be crazy to suggest chewed up dog toys have nothing to do with babies. In five weeks, not only will I be cleaning tiny bums and picking up baby stuff scattered throughout the house, I’ll also still be cleaning up the fluffy, white innards of dismembered dog toys!

Things Our Dog Ate #1

In a little less than two months, Carey and I can expect an adorable, drooling, goo’ing, pooping little addition to our family and it’s true, our blog will surely bear the burden of ALL of those moments in the form of photos, stories and the inevitable reaching out for advice and support.

But as this has always been a blog about family, it seems only fitting that we should give recognition to the other members of our little family… our pets. As anyone with an animal knows, they are as much a part of the family as our children. They are our best friends. They make us laugh, are there for us when we cry, destroy our furniture, eat our food and show us unconditional love (unless of course they are a cat and only show love when it suits them) and although a newborn will most likely steal the spotlight for a short while, there will always be things to love about our pets.

For me, it’s the constant rotation of ‘dead stuffed animals’ that make their way through Tucker’s toy box. We pick them up at the thrift store, he plays with them for a few days until one day, I get home from work to find a stuffed animal carcass in the living room, surrounded by white fluffy entrails which he has happily pulled out as any dog would.

I thought it would be fun to start photographing the remains of his stuffed animals so, with a smile, a smirk and a guffaw, I give you the very first in what I hope will become an ongoing series of “Things Our Dog Ate.”
