just in time

We are home from our wonderful Christmas vacation to New Hampshire! Talk about sardines packed in to a car though- Nathan, my brother, me and Tucker were all stuffed in the Jeep Cherokee on the way home which was a much longer drive than the way up since we were hauling a trailer!

It was such an awesome time though. We got in at 1 am on Christmas day and spent Christmas with Nathan’s family (mom, dad, sister, brother-in-law and the boys). I experienced my first ever New England snow storm – we were snowed in a few days with magical white snow everywhere plus howling winds! Sat in front of the fire place, munched on yummy cookies, played board games, cuddled my adorable nephews, did lots of word searches, and took care of my very sickly husband. It seems whatever I had I passed on to Nathan but his was ten times worse…coughs out of this world. If he isn’t significantly better today off to the doctor he goes.

Lots to do the next three days (What? It’s New Year’s Eve?) from unpacking to cleaning to organizing. I can’t wait to go through the photos from the trip and reminisce. And one of the most exciting things ever – my mother and sister-in-law hosted a surprise baby shower for me! I was so surprised and excited I cried. It was so much fun! I’ve never had any sort of shower before so it was a special treat indeed. I’m hoping to get some photos up in the next few days.

Happy new year’s eve!

Meet Maggie and the birds!

A wonderful old friend of mine has started a blog about her two little birds – Charlie and Davey. Maggie has one-year-old faternal twins who are the cutest little ginger haired babehs I’ve ever seen. And, I just love reading about their daily adventures from the eyes of their oh-so talented mama!

I love that Maggie is so honest and sincere with everything that she does from being a mommy to an entrepreneur (she has her own business Love for Sale) and a friend. She has offered me so much advice the past few months that I have cherished. Maggie can also make you crack up with laughter from hundreds of miles away. I’ve actually only met Maggie once but can say that she has one of the kindest hearts in the world.

Her little family has been going through a lot recently as Charlie is recovering from surgery, and is living in a spica cast for a bit of time. This little girl is resillient, though and you can read about all of Charlie’s and her awesome brother Davey’s adventures on Maggie’s blog A one and a two…. Go ahead and say hi to Maggie and the babes!

Hope everyone had a very merry Christmas! I’m in the middle of my first ever New England snow storm! Expecting to get up to 20 inches! Staying safe and warm, though…well, after I build a real snow man!

Merry Christmas Eve!

We had a little Christmas shindig at Stephen and Logan’s the other night! It was a lot of fun and we had sopapillas for dessert. Um yum!

This is the last week of the second trimester! Wow! Are you serious?! Baby girl is growing and growing and growing. The other night I went to scoot my chair, and bonked my belly on the table. That’s a first! Pretty soon I hear it will be brushing past everything I try to get by.

I’m starting to figure out the baby’s times of sleep and wake just in the past week. She definitely has a pattern! She is starting to be a lot more active at night before I go to bed. It is one of my favorite times. I’ve always loved to rub Nathan’s belly, and thought it funny that women don’t get their stomach rubbed often. It’s such a nice feeling! But being pregnant is a sure fire way that your belly will be rubbed often by your hubby. I love it! Last night Nathan was rubbing my tummy, and talking to the baby and she couldn’t contain her excitement. She fluttered and kicked and rolled so much for him. His face was in awe! It was an amazing sight to see.

This week has been exhausting, and I am ready for some R&R! I’m ready to celebrate Christmas, drink tea, and do nothing but enjoy family. Sounds like a plan, right?

lap dog

I can’t remember if I have mentioned yet that our dog Tucker has lost 30 lbs in the past year or so! We put him on a major diet since he was tipping the scales at 126! He’s a pure bred English Black Labrador which means he has a boxy head, broad shoulders and big paws! While 126 is quite too much for him to weigh an average of 100 is just about right especially for his build.

So we are very proud that he is down to 96 lbs! He still has no idea how big he is though and likes to act like a lap dog every now and then. For some reason he especially gets cuddly during the winter.

chirp

Dear baby lady,

I’m sorry I’ve been sick, and jiggling you all over the place with my coughing. Add to that my loud sneezes that probably scare you into rumble and tumbles in my belly. Mama is working real hard to get better. Your daddy has been taking good care of me, too. Rest is the best they say, and we got lots of that this weekend. We spent a little time Saturday night watching you squirm underneath my belly button.

I keep saying in a week I will be better, and then a week after that it will be the new year! Do you know what that means?! It will be the year you will be born. 2011. I know this year will just sound as normal as a bird chirping outside your window by the time you are ten, but I still can’t wrap my head around the idea that we will have a daughter born in 2011. Our very own little spring bird. We can’t wait to hear you chirp.

All my love,
sneezey mama

a beautiful wedding

I thought I would share a few beautiful photos from a recent wedding my brother photographed. I think he is so talented, and loved that my wedding to Nathan was the first he ever shot. You can see our wedding photos here.

He just keeps getting better and better with each wedding. I feel like I can see how he has interpreted what the bride and groom have wanted in to a lovely memory that will last a lifetime.

random saturday

Husband just refilled my tea cup. I’ve been drinking it religiously the past few days as I am still overwhelmed with yucky symptoms. Now I’m dealing with watery eyes, sneezing, and itchy ears. Ugh.

We got a lot done today considering my state though! Went to bed super early yesterday because our heat was out. It does this every winter. No our landlords don’t care. No they haven’t fixed it. I mean they have tried to but it never works. So we just have to wait it out. It usually happens when it is super super cold outside, and yesterday the high was somewhere around 16 degrees. So we cuddled up with lots of layers and tried to sleep through it. This morning I huddled around the oven which I set to 500 degrees and made coffee and oatmeal. Nathan and I looked so silly in our hats and gloves eating porridge by the oven. Finally Nathan was able to get it to come on again, and we have been warm ever since.

We ran lots of errands including multiple stops at Target, Home Depot, JoAnns, and the grocery store! I really have been wanting some plastic bins to organize my seasonal clothes in. I have so many clothes! Many of them I can’t wear now because of my belly and also because it’s so darn cold out! So I picked up a few at Target only to find them half the price at Home Depot. Another trip back to Target to return those. I got through my entire dresser of clothes though! I have one bag to donate, and two bins to pack away. This will help a lot as we start to set up the bedroom for the baby in the next coming months. I’m hoping to get all of my clothes in to my closet so that we can get rid of the dresser which will allow room for the bassinet and changing station. Whew!

Nathan also got his Christmas present to himself – a Miter saw! The box is currently acting as my side table. I picked up baking supplies to make cookies with my brother this next week. He comes in from Tennessee on Monday! I’m so excited to have him here for a whole two weeks! He’s the bestest brother ever.
